Lustre before size
Akoya pearls are graded first for lustre - the mirror-like reflection off the nacre - and only afterward for size, which is why an 8mm pair here can outshine a 9mm elsewhere.
The thread mount lets each pearl rotate slightly, so it always settles with its best face forward.
